Just Us Kids is James McMurtry's first album for Lightning Rod Records, a fledgeling music label in Nashville. The record has gotten excellent press and critical acclaim, with its blazing political songs alternating with meditations on getting older, and its dry but compassionate studies of hard-bitten characters on the fringes of modern America. McMurtry is an impassioned lyricist and unique guitar player, and I highly recommend this album, and not just because I designed the art for it.
